With the addition of the independent Tri-Service Radar Symposium to IRIS in 1999, the combination became the Military Sensing Symposium in recognition of its diversified nature. The Tri-Service Radar specialty group provides a SECRET level classified forum focused on radar technology applied to military and homeland security problems. The group considers ground, aircraft and UAV, missile, space, urban operations, and shipboard platform applications. The meeting treats all types of applications including search, surveillance and warning; detection, tracking and identification; guidance and homing; target and kill assessment; and others. In addition, the full spectrum of radar techniques such as SAR, ISAR, and GMTI imaging radar; bistatic and multistatic radar; passive RF; and RF tagging and tracking is covered. The group considers all aspects of radar technology from signal processing, phenomenology, analysis and modeling, component technologies (T/R modules, exciters, DDS, processors, photonics, etc.), integration into weapons systems and net centric systems and electronic countermeasures and counter-countermeasures. Pertinent subjects include multifunction radar, active aperture radar, digital radar, and digital beamforming.
